Wat? Echt für Langer?
Niemals Top 10!

Slalom?s biggest fleet in 8 years dawns upon the Spanish town of Sant Pere Pescador, in the Golf De Roses for the 2008 season?s second Men?s and Women?s Slalom clash, from the 10th-15th of June.
The Gulf of Roses extends for twelve kilometers along Spain?s Costa Brava, to the north of Barcelona. The area?s a tourist hot spot, and a popular windsurfing destination. Over the summer months a steady thermal breeze buffets the coast, which is more or less a permanent fixture from June to September. The only exception can be the abrupt arrival of the nuclear Tramontana, a katabatic wind that howls down from the Pyrenean Mountains.
The area boasts an impressive competition pedigree, playing host to both PWA freestyle and super cross showdowns in the past. However, this year will witness the cream of the slalom fraternity from both the men?s and women?s divisions.
The ?45,000 prize purse has certainly helped to lure competitors to Sant Pere Pescador?s Mediterranean shores, and the event proudly lays claim to having the largest slalom fleet in 8 years, including nearly 80 entrants in the men?s division.
Expect to see slalom?s biggest players jostling alongside a talented contingent of local racers hoping to cause upset within the ranks.
Defending their positions will be; 2007 World Champion and last year?s event winner, Antoine Albeau (Starboard, NeilPryde), last year?s event runner up Micah Buzianis (JP, NeilPryde, MFC), Ex-World Champion Kevin Pritchard (Starboard, Gaastra), speed merchant Finian Maynard (F2, NeilPryde), and one of the undisputed legends of windsurfing, Bjorn Dunkerbeck (T1, North Sails).
In the women?s fleet, competing at this location for the first time, there?s Swiss legend and 2007 World Champion, Karin Jaggi (F2, North Sails) who?ll be trying to ward off advances from the likes of Valerie Ghibaudo (Tabou, The Loft) and Sarah Herbert (Starboard, Naish).

Erste Rennen sind für 14 Uhr Ortszeit angesetzt, wenn der Wind mitspielt...
Da beschwört aber einer den Wettergott...
Zitat von Bj?rnHi , the slalom season starts in Europe, first day here today ,
70 windsurfers in the mens pro fleet and 24 in the womens fleet
saludos
Bjorn

Slalom?s second bout of race action is locked, loaded, and ready to go, as the biggest fleet in almost a decade registered to become part of this historic windsurfing face off.
The biggest players in windsurfing?s elite slalom racing discipline have touched down on the Costa Brava, hungry to state their intentions for the forthcoming season, and begin the points race for the 2008 title.
The first day of competition kicked off with the registration of the mammoth men?s and women?s slalom fleets at the event HQ on La Ballena Alegre 2 campsite, in the Spanish town of Sant Pere Pescador.
Following a final count of entrants, a total of 66 men and 21 women registered, making it one of the biggest slalom fleets to compete in a PWA event in the last eight years.
With a forecast ranging from super light, marginal conditions, to howling Tramontana winds predicted in the latter half of the week, many of the sailors have had difficult decisions to make regarding the equipment they?ve registered.
Over the course of the afternoon we asked several of the riders how they go about selecting their equipment, and what gear they?re going to use for competition in such a variable environment.
Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (F2, NeilPryde): ?I think it?s gonna be like last year, windy then really light. I?m going to be using pretty big stuff, and my smaller stuff. I?m not going to take my medium size gear. Hopefully, from last year?s conditions, and the forecast, I should be alright.?
Kevin Pritchard (Starboard, Gaastra): ?It wasn?t so bad, my sails and boards have a pretty good wind range on them, so I?m not too nervous. I?ve got a 9.0m as my biggest, and a 6.7m as my smallest. I think the chances of it being super windy are pretty low, so I went with the big gear and we?ll see...?
Gabriel Browne (Mistral, MauiSails): ?I?ve been talking to other sailors and checking the forecast. I?ve chosen my bigger stuff and my medium size stuff. For me, hopefully that should be ok.?
With the wind remaining light over the remainder of the afternoon, most of the sailors took the time out to tweak and tune their gear in preparation for the arrival of the wind, which is forecast to grow to a peak of around 30 knots towards the end of the week.
This evening sees the official event opening ceremony, marking the start of the second slalom event of the 2008 PWA season in Sant Pere Pescador.
Tomorrow?s skippers? meeting is scheduled for 10.00am, and heats will commence shortly after this. Keep up to date with every piece of the action at www.pwaworldtour.com, where you can take advantage of our:

ZitatAlles anzeigenThe 2008 Catalunya Costa Brava PWA Slalom World Cup – Day Two
Light winds and sun forced sailors to adopt a relaxed approach to proceedings, as the wait for conditions continued on Spain’s scenic Costa Brava.
Day two of competition greeted competitors to the beach with clear blue skies and a gentle Mediterranean breeze. While the sailors waited for the local thermal wind to build, there was plenty of time to reflect on the previous evenings entertainments, at the official event opening ceremony.
The evening was a traditionally Spanish affair, taking place in the beautiful local town of Sant Pere Pescador, which dates back to the 10th century. Over the course of the night, sailors were treated to a spectacular tapas buffet in the picturesque town square.
The ceremony culminated with a selection of speeches greeting competitors, and commemorating the tenth year of competition at Sant Pere Pescador’s impressive 7km stretch of golden sands.
As midday passed, temperatures soared, igniting hopes that the local thermal might build sufficiently to get heats underway. Unfortunately, the breeze remained light throughout the afternoon, leaving competitors free to utilize the extensive leisure facilities available at the Ballena Alegre 2 campsite.
Tomorrow’s forecast predicts the arrival of the infamous Tramontana wind. To take advantage, the skippers meeting has been moved to the earlier time of 9.00am, with heats getting underway from 9.30am.
