Also die Organisation scheint ja nicht so der absolute Renner zu sein oder aber Sponsoren ziehen sich immer mehr zurück.

Das geplante Event auf Tarifa ist abgesagt und für das Event in Namibia (Walvis Bay) sieht es aktuell auch nicht sonderlich gut aus.

Positiv ist hingegen das Zustandekommen eines neuen Events in Irland. Wollen wir mal hoffen, dass zumindest 3 Worldcups dieses Jahr gefahren werden!

Traurige Sache, ausgerechnet Namibia hat aktuell den schnellsten Spot zu bieten...


Dear Speed Sailors,

we have some good and some bad news for you.

Due to unforseeable organizational problems we have to postpone the Tarifa event until further notice.

Also unforeseeable organizational problems forced us to cancel the Namibia events for the moment, but we are working on a national event for windsurfers and kiteboarders in Walvis Bay and a replacement world cup event for kiteboarders in direct connection to the world record attempt in Luderitz.

The good news is, that we have found a new, exciting venue in Ireland to host the 2008 ISWC Production World Championship.

The event will be hosted at the Dungavan speed strip (52°04'41N, 7°37'87W) from 29.11.-06.12.2008. The conditions in that period are usually 20-40 knots, flat water, 12 degree celsius air temperature.

Dear Speed Sailors,

we are happy to announce that the final ranking of the Luderitz Speedsailing World Record Attempt, taking place from the 15th of September till 13th of October, will count towards the PKRA Speed overall ranking. Thus the 2008 world champion will be crowned this year during this special event, in the best conditions and the highest speeds. The average of the two fastest speeds will count for the event ranking, whenever they are set on the 4 week record attempt period. More details will be published shortly.

We are still working on a national event for windsurfers and kiteboarders in Walvis Bay, middle of october. News about this event, if it takes place and the exact dates, will be also published as soon as possible.

SPEED:WORLD:CUP News


Dear Speed Sailors,



here is some important information for all riders planning to attend this years speed world championships on Fuerteventura from July 28 till August 2.



This year we will have a flexible course south of Center One (but as close as possible to have good access to the storage area). We will pick the best 250m every day depending on the wind and wave conditions, this gives us the flexibility to find proper speedsailing conditions every day.



The timing will be fully GPS based and due to the flexibility of the course we will have no display on the beach. The course will still be marked with buoys, entry gate, one sailor only zone etc, and the time will be taken from the defined 250 m strip.



Due to the flexibility of the course there will be no storage or other constructions on the beach, we will use the facilities in the world cup tents at center one. Also, because of the Nature Reservate we are operating in, there are no private cars allowed on the beach.



Lunch will be provided in the world cup tent (buffet), and drinking water is available every morning as much as everybody needs.



We plan to run windsurfing and kiteboarding fleets alternating, so that we have enough space on the water and everybody has enough time during the heats to eat and relax.



The entry numbers are strictly limited to 45 windsurfers (40 men and 5 women) and 20 kiteboarders (15 men and 5 women), and will be seeded on base of the current world rankings. The official Notice of Race will be available soon, and registration opened then.



We are sure that this will be a great event due to this new format and the possibility to pick the best conditions every day, in conjunction with the great world cup atmosphere on the Fuerteventura World Cup.
