Weymouth Speed Week 2010
Firstly a warm welcome to the many people who have recently joined the Weymouth Speed Week email news list and are looking forward to Weymouth Speed Week 2010.
The event will start on Saturday 16th October. Registration will open on the web site 60 days before this date.
Our plans to do all speed timing using GT31 GPS units are progressing. Patrick Van Hoof the fastest sailor at Weymouth Speed Week 2009 will be running the Belgian speed event in the South of France next week using GT31 GPS units. We will be visiting Patrick to learn from him and his team the logistics of using GPS timing. Also in attendance will be Manfred Fuchs the expert behind the software that calculates the results.
At Weymouth Speed Week 2010 we wish to record both wind speed and direction so that we can calculate for each run the speed to windspeed ratio and course angle to the wind.
We will provide you with further updates on the timing system and the standard of the equipment that you will need.
In the meantime we are busy organising the second national Sunrise Sunset event on May the 2nd in support of the charity born at Weymouth Speed Week 2008 - Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research.
Do support this worthy cause - visit www.W4CR.org to learn more, take part and help raise £50,000.
Good sailing!
The Weymouth Speed Week Team
